Sh. Mikaeel Smith

Shaykh Mikaeel Ahmed Smith grew up in a Christian home in Buffalo, NY, and embraced Islam at age 18 after reading the Qur'an and the Autobiography of Malcolm X. He memorized the Qur'an and continued his Islamic education at Jami'a Abu Noor in Damascus, Syria. Shaykh Mikaeel earned his Bachelor's Degree in Islamic Studies from Dar ul-Uloom Canada in 2012. He currently serves as a faculty member at Qalam Seminary, where he teaches Tafsir, Seerah, Aqeedah, and Hadith. He is the author of "With the Heart in Mind" and "When Hearing Becomes Listening," and is a regular contributor to the Qalam Podcast. Shaykh Mikaeel resides in Dallas, TX with his wife and three children, and is passionate about building Islamic literacy and working with youth.
